VCA Animal Hospitals Supports Pride Veterinary Medical Community

Increased involvement and grant helps advance acceptance and inclusivity for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities within the veterinary medical profession

LOS ANGELES--()--VCA Animal Hospitals, the largest family of animal care providers nationwide operating over 800 hospitals in the U.S. and Canada, continues to strengthen its partnership with Pride Veterinary Medical Community (Pride VMC), the oldest professional organization that fosters acceptance, inclusivity and leadership for veterinary medical professionals of all sexual orientations and gender identities. VCA’s generous sponsorship supports Pride VMC and Broad Spectrum Veterinary Student Association chapters on veterinary campuses across the country with grants to further educational opportunities and acceptance for all those entering the veterinary field.

“We are proud to support Pride VMC, whose mission of inclusivity and acceptance matches our own workplace philosophy,” said Brandon Antin, VCA Vice President of Social Responsibility and Innovation. “Across North America, we are aware and concerned with diversity and wellness in the communities we serve. Additionally, our support will also directly assist and sponsor LGBTQ+ student groups on veterinary campuses. We want to show our pride, not only during June’s Pride month, but each day of the year.”

In June, Pride VMC and VCA will participate in pride events all over the U.S. and Canada as a way of recognizing the movement that celebrates the influence that diversity, acceptance and inclusion has had around the world. In San Francisco, Pride VMC and VCA San Francisco Veterinary Specialists are partnering to invite Bay area veterinary colleagues, friends and animal companions to participate in one of the oldest and largest pride parades in the world, San Francisco Pride. Contingents march through the heart of the city, along Market Street, with more than 100,000 spectators.
