Ecolab Foundation Provides $250,000 to Saint Paul Public Schools for Teacher Grant Program

ST. PAUL, Minn.--()--Ecolab Inc. has announced a $250,000 grant to Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) through the Ecolab Foundation for the district’s new Ecolab Teacher Grants Program. Beginning this week, the Ecolab Teacher Grants Program will be open for teachers to request funding for materials to help inspire and engage students.

“Teachers have an important job to do, and we are proud to support their work and the school district through this program,” said Kris Taylor, vice president, Ecolab Community Relations. “Funds provided through the Ecolab Teacher Grants Program will assist educators in their efforts to enrich the learning experience for their students.”

The Ecolab Teacher Grants Program is a continuation of the previous Ecolab Foundation Visions for Learning grant program that provided $2.1 million over the past 10 years to educators throughout the district, positively impacting 1,220 classrooms.

One of the Ecolab Foundation’s major initiatives is youth and education, where it focuses on supporting organizations and programs that help youth excel in school, engage in communities and develop leadership and life skills. “So much of our future depends on preparing our children to become well-educated adults. That's why we invest a large part of our Ecolab Foundation budget to support youth development,” added Taylor.

The program encourages teachers of color and new educators to apply. The application asks teachers to align their projects with Strategic Focus Areas and Student Outcomes from the new SPPS strategic plan.

“The new Ecolab Teacher Grants Program will help bring our new strategic plan to life, putting funds into the hands of teachers and other student-focused staff to achieve our vital outcomes,” said Dr. Joe Gothard, superintendent, SPPS. “We are grateful to the Ecolab Foundation for its ongoing support for our students and the adults who educate them.”

Supporting classroom learning is just one way Ecolab invests in youth. Ecolab also funds program grants to many nonprofit partners in the Twin Cities and other geographic focus areas who address education in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), college and career readiness, and early childhood programming. Additional focus areas of the Ecolab Foundation include supporting organizations and programs focused on civic and community development, arts and culture, and the environment and conservation.
