Red Gold Tomatoes Announces Two Chef-Partners Advance to WFC Final Table

ELWOOD, Ind.--()--Red Gold Tomatoes, producer of the freshest, best tasting canned tomato products, today announced two chef-partners have advanced to the World Food Championships Final Table. Competitors Craig Baker and Acie Vincent prepare to go head-to-head with eight other champions for the ultimate prize on April 22.

“Red Gold partnered with the World Food Championships starting in 2016,” said Becca Yeagy, Territory Sales Manager, Red Gold Tomatoes. “The ability to bring passionate culinary focused professionals together with our products has been inspiring.”

At the World Food Championships held in November 2017, Baker won the Chef category and Vincent won the Sandwich category. Those wins advanced them to compete for a $100,000 prize package at the Final Table, a competition scheduled for April 22, 2018 in Bentonville, Arkansas.

“We couldn’t be more proud of Craig and Acie’s success with the World Food Championships so far,” said Lydia Gray, Marketing Communications Manager, Red Gold Tomatoes. “Their dedication, innovation, and use of the best ingredients in their creations are characteristic of their approach to making something special for whomever sits at their tables. No matter who takes the prize home, we feel they are winners already.”

Baker, an Indiana-based restaurateur, used Red Gold Tomatoes in a paella dish in the opening rounds of the 2017 competition that advanced him to the Top 10. “It’s an honor and humbling to represent Indiana at Final Table along with my friend, Chef Ben Hardy,” said Baker. “All the finalists share a bond that’s incredible and friendships develop that last a lifetime.”

Vincent won the Sandwich category, sponsored this year by Red Gold: a Smokey Lionfish and Crab Cake Sandwich accompanied with Bacon Tomato Jam using Red Gold Whole Peeled Tomatoes. But his connection to Red Gold is stronger than a single recipe: Vincent won the online recipe contest, “Bring Your ‘Wich to the Sand” to make it to this year’s competition. “It has been so exciting to be able to compete in food sport, having great products like Red Gold and of course winning in just 3 short years,” said Vincent. “What an honor and privilege.”
