GASTONIA, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Books-A-Million invites guests to a conversation and book signing event with New York Times bestselling author and National Book Award winner Charles Frazier on Monday, April 23. This event, beginning at 7 p.m., will feature Frazier’s newest book “Varina” and will take place at Loray Mills, located at 300 South Firestone Street in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Set for release on April 3, Frazier’s historical fiction novel “Varina,” published by Ecco, revisits the perennially absorbing period in United States history when political and social divisiveness led to a catastrophic war. With limited prospects, teenage Varina makes a strategic decision to marry widower Jefferson Davis, a Mississippi landowner with the resources to offer a life of security. Frazier gained international stardom with the release of his first novel, “Cold Mountain,” which became an international bestseller and was adapted as the Academy Award winning feature film of the same name starring Nicole Kidman and Jude Law.
