Zuul Named Winner in the Info Security PG's 2018 Global Excellence Awards

Company Supports Smart Cities by Making IIoT Devices Easier to Deploy and More Secure

COLUMBIA, Md.--()--Zuul Inc., an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) secure device management platform, today announced the company has been recognized by Info Security Products Guide as Security Start Up of the Year in the 2018 Global Excellence Awards. Zuul bridges the gap between operations concerns and IT security to make deploying and maintaining IoT devices easier and more secure. These prestigious global awards recognize cybersecurity and information technology vendors with advanced, ground-breaking products, solutions, and services that are helping set the bar higher for others in all areas of security and technologies.

Zuul was formed in November 2016 within the MasterPeace LaunchPad technology accelerator, to support the rapidly expanding Internet of Things and subsequent influx of internet-connected devices in smart cities. Just 14 months later, the company announced a capital raise of $300,000, secured their first customer – a global public-sector transportation and mobility company – and has built a robust pipeline of customers in the Fleet Management and Building Automation markets.

“We are very proud to be recognized as a key player by Info Security Products Guide,” said Drew Cohen, CEO of Zuul. “Our leadership team is driven to support the development of smart cities through unique defense-in-depth security and, with the continued support from our respected board of directors, the company will continue to advance the industry.”

IoT devices found in smart transportation, building automation and industrial control systems have not been protected with the same type of robust defenses found in the mainstream IT market. When building smart cities, the smart transportation and smart buildings markets must assure that the proper protections are put in place in order to reduce the risk of penetration and compromise of IoT devices, which could result in devastating consequences for the public at large. Zuul leverages the unique differences between general purpose computing devices and IoT devices to enable companies in these markets to save time, reduce costs, and ensure that their IoT configurations are secured better than traditional IT systems, consistently audited, and maintained.

“The process of smoothly incorporating IoT devices into a network and securing them from attacks is complex, expensive, and, when not done properly, leaves the devices and networks exposed and vulnerable to attacks,” said Edward Stanford, CTO. “Zuul removes the traditional complexities of administering deployment, discovery and management while enabling a comprehensive path for integrating IoT device security with the existing enterprise IT security systems.”
