ZOLL Foundation Announces New Bi-Annual Application Submission and Award Dates

Non-Profit Foundation Moving from Rolling Applications to Set Deadlines

CHELMSFORD, Mass.--()--Since its establishment in November 2013 to provide research grants to young investigators in the fields of resuscitation and acute critical care, the ZOLL Foundation has received 50 applications and awarded close to $400,000 to 20 grantees. Applications have up to this point been accepted on a rolling basis, but now will be accepted by March 31 and September 30 deadlines, with grant awards made bi-annually on May 31 and November 30.

Ward Hamilton, newly elected President of the Foundation, who recently retired from ZOLL Medical Corporation as a senior executive, described the benefits of the change: “Having set deadlines is not only more predictable for applicants for whom the timing of their research is sometimes significant, but defined deadlines allow the Board of Directors to plan their schedules around the review periods. With rolling dates, it is hard to gauge when there are enough applications to warrant Board review.”

Hamilton noted that any applications that were not received in time for review at the recent February 2 Board meeting, or were not approved, will automatically be moved to the March 31 deadline. It was at this Board meeting that Hamilton was elected President and Richard Packer, former President, named Clerk. Continuing as Board members are John Bergeron, Treasurer, Norman Paradis, MD, and Coreen Packer. Susan Schumacher was named Administrator.
