CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Michael J. Hennessy Associates Inc.’s (MJH) premiere infectious disease publication, Contagion®, marks its second anniversary this month amid celebrations of its highest readership traffic to date.
“We’re proud of the success Contagion® has had over the past two years,” said Michael J. Hennessy Jr, president of MJH, parent company of Contagion®. “We are thrilled to be one of the most recognized and trusted resources for infectious diseases and look forward to continuing our growth.”
Editor-in-chief, Jason Gallagher, Pharm.D., is starting out his first full year of leading the publication, and Contagion®’s February print edition, set to be published later this month, is primed to be its best issue yet, boasting additional expert-written content in the form of “In the Literature” articles that aim to serve as a leading source of concise and reliable summaries of new infectious diseases studies for the busy health care provider, as well as in-depth case studies from leading medical institutions.
Dr. Gallagher also has his sights set on growing the Contagion® Editorial Advisory Board, having added 10 new members in January 2018 from esteemed institutions such as the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to a consortium of experts from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, among others.
The Contagion® Outbreak Monitor continues to serve as a resource to enable health care practitioners around the world to identify occurrences of infectious diseases, such as Salmonella infections and Hepatitis A, on local, regional, national and international scales. The global Outbreak Monitor is now even more user-friendly. Visitors to the site can manipulate the map to find out the latest information on outbreaks in their geographical region or areas to which they plan on traveling. The new map key allows users to easily find the outbreak they’re looking for and zero in on details specific to that outbreak.
This past year, the publication launched its first Peer Exchange® with a panel comprising experts in the field who discussed many of the controversies surrounding Lyme disease. The Peer Exchange® offers users a unique opportunity to view lively discussions among key opinion leaders in the field as they provide authoritative insights, opinions and perspectives on important issues that today’s infectious disease professionals face. Additional Peer Exchanges will be filmed this year, including one on multidrug-resistant infections in the intensive care unit, which is set to launch later this month!
This is only the beginning! Contagion® plans to ramp up its efforts even more to remain the go-to source for infectious disease news for health care professionals in 2018.
Contagion® is a fully integrated print and digital news publication that provides health care practitioners and aligned professionals with timely information and resources to improve patient outcomes and positively affect the identification, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases. It also incorporates the Outbreak Monitor, which provides real-time information about infectious disease outbreaks by geographical region. Contagion® is part of Michael J. Hennessy Associates Inc., a full-service health care communications company offering education, research and medical media.
