WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--National School Choice Week began Sunday, January 21 and nearly 7 million Americans will take time this Week to learn about the school choice options available in their community and celebrate the schools and education environments they’ve already found.
National School Choice Week is being celebrated at more than 20,000 schools, by 5,600 homeschooling groups, and by millions of parents and community leaders.
Events and activities will include open houses, parent appreciation breakfasts, pep rallies, art shows, information nights, and outdoor adventures at schools. More than 1,000 organizations will hold school fairs, student award ceremonies, and other events. In addition, large rallies are being planned by coalitions of groups in more than 50 major cities.
Students, parents, and teachers from every type of educational environment participate in National School Choice Week. Participants represent traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, private schools, online learning, and homeschooling.
“National School Choice Week is the best time of year for families around the country to consider their schooling choices for the next school year,” said Andrew Campanella. “Whether it’s attending a large rally, touring a local school, joining the national dialogue online, or having a family discussion around the dinner table, this week is time to participate in a conversation about the importance of opportunity in education.”
