The breach reportedly exposed the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of 50 million customers from around the world. The personal information of about 7 million drivers was also compromised, including some drivers’ license numbers.
The breach reportedly occurred in October 2016 but is just now being made public. Uber’s troubling response initially to the hack was to keep it quiet by offering to pay $100,000 to the hackers.
