NFL QB Vince Young Teams Up with Driver’s Ed App Maker Aceable, Reminding Texans Not to Drink and Drive

AUSTIN, Texas--()--With the holidays approaching quickly, Aceable, the mobile education platform and makers of the first state-approved drivers ed app is partnering with Texas football legend Vince Young to announce a campaign called “Keep the Drive Alive.” The goal is to raise awareness in Texas about the importance of not driving while under the influence.

“In 2013, there were 25,158 alcohol-related crashes resulting in 1,022 deaths in the state of Texas - that’s astonishing,” said Blake Garrett, Aceable Founder and CEO. “Our driving courses help educate soon-to-be drivers about safe driving habits before they get on the road, but it’s equally important to remind existing drivers, which is why we’re partnering with Vince. His voice alongside our ‘Keep the Drive Alive’ campaign will hopefully encourage driving students and current drivers to think about the risks involved and the serious consequences at stake if they decide to drink and drive.”

Eighteen months ago, Vince Young, the former University of Texas football star got a DWI while driving in Austin. Young’s first-hand experience made him eager to educate others about the dangers of driving under the influence, as he personally understands the seriousness of such reckless behavior. When approached by Aceable, it was a no-brainer, as their platform is mobile education with an audience of those on the road.

"It's important to remember that driving is a serious responsibility,” said Vince Young, NFL quarterback. “You're behind the wheel of a 2,000 pound machine and if you lose control, it can have serious consequences. I was lucky to walk away with just a DWI. I want others to learn from my mistake and I hope my small story can influence others to help make the roads safer."

“Keep the Drive Alive” is a multi-channel campaign, which will start running today through the end of the year.

In addition, all of Aceable’s Texas Driving Courses will include guest appearances from Vince Young, including Parent Taught Driver’s Ed, Adult Driver's Ed and most importantly, Defensive Driving.
