Treatail Launches Industry-First Deal Making Ecommerce Platform

Chicago startup offers savvy consumers a new way to obtain discounts with online retailers

CHICAGO--()--Treatail Inc. today announced a new way to shop online with the launch of its ecommerce buying platform that enables consumers to request discounts for desired goods. This first-of-its-kind platform gives online shoppers the ability to propose a lower price on the “view cart” page of any retailer’s website. Treatail then provides retailers the opportunity to accept or counter any consumer deal. Treatail thus allows customers to receive unpublished, personalized deals, while retailers benefit by increasing conversion rate, reducing cart abandonment, and streamlining inventory.

Founded in 2016 by Adam Selsby, a former online retail business owner, Treatail’s browser plugin is an easy and effective way for consumers to communicate directly with retailers. Retailers can move inventory by accepting discount requests for items in their store without diminishing the value of their brand.

The margin and inventory were there, but not enough consumers had the awareness, much less a tool to start that conversation. Currently, cart abandonment represents a large missed opportunity for ecommerce retailers, with more than three out of four carts being abandoned, according to a report by Statista. A study by FuturePay showed that price and unexpected costs are the top two reasons consumers abandon their cart. Treatail aims to bridge that gap to allow consumers to be more in control and secure the products and services they desire.
