SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Linesight, a Dublin-based global specialty construction services company specializing in data center development, today released a comprehensive white paper entitled Hyperactive Hyperscale that explores the exceptional growth in the data center space. Hyperscaling refers to the development of data centers that are much larger than traditional facilities and have thousands, rather than hundreds, of servers.
According to the report, data traffic, one of the main drivers of this new model, is increasing at the rate of 28% per annum. Other trends supporting accelerated adoption of hyperscale data centers include deployment of increasingly compute-intensive applications, expansion of cloud-based solutions, growing use of artificial intelligence, algorithms and bots as well as the tremendous impact of the Internet of Things (IoT).
The bottom line is that the hyperscale approach is becoming increasingly important. By 2020, according to the Cisco Global Cloud Index, hyperscale facilities will represent 47% of all installed data centers and will account for 53% of total global traffic. The paper released today by Linesight provides insight designed to help companies better understand and take advantage of trending in the hyperscale space.
The demonstrated benefits of hyperscaling include increased flexibility, improved energy efficiency, better security and risk management, economies of scale through consolidation and improvements in fail-over and mirroring capabilities. In addition, the modular design approach allows hyperscale solutions to be built and brought online incrementally.
“Hyperscaling in data centers is here to stay,” said John Butler, Regional Director APAC, Linesight. “We are currently working on over 150 data center projects in various stages of development across four continents. This experience gives us unprecedented insight into the challenges organizations face when building their critical infrastructure on time and within budget and makes us an expert in this sector. We are excited to share our domain knowledge in data centers along with insights into future trends.”
