Highmore Announces New Senior Advisor: Dr. Ben Caldecott

One of the World’s Leading Authorities in Sustainable Finance to Help Lead Highmore Impact

NEW YORK--()--Highmore Group Advisors, a leading global alternative asset management firm overseeing in excess of $1.2 billion, is pleased to announce that Dr. Ben Caldecott has joined as a Senior Advisor. Dr. Caldecott will be focused on Highmore Impact, the firm’s ESG and Impact Investment platform.

“We’re very pleased and honoured to have Ben join us,” said Managing Partner Brian Altenburg. “Investor demand for differentiated, economically compelling investments that also align with their values continues to grow. Ben’s insights and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to scale our offerings through Highmore Impact.”

Ben Caldecott commented, “To meet the great environmental and social challenges we face, capital must be deployed at scale towards activities that make a difference. Developments in sustainable finance are emerging in response, but not nearly as fast as they can or should. They often also fail to properly match investor values with impacts and appropriate returns. This needs to change quickly and it is one the most exciting opportunities in the history of investment management. I’m really excited to be helping Highmore’s new ESG and Impact Investment platform do exactly that.”

Dr. Caldecott is the founding Director of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Programme at the University of Oxford Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment. The Oxford Sustainable Finance Programme is a multidisciplinary research center working to be the world's best place for research and teaching on sustainable finance and investment. He is concurrently an Adviser to The Prince of Wales's Accounting for Sustainability Project, an Academic Visitor at the Bank of England, and a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University.

He has authored and edited a substantial number of publications related to the environment and is also a regular peer reviewer and has a number of board and advisory panel appointments, including with the City of London Green Finance Initiative, University of Oxford Socially Responsible Investment Review Committee, Green Alliance, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, and the Natural Capital Finance Alliance.

He holds a doctorate in economic geography from the University of Oxford. He initially read economics and specialized in development and China at the University of Cambridge and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Peking University and held Visiting Fellowships at the University of Oxford, the University of Sydney, and the University of Melbourne.
