MAMCF Board of Directors Names Paul David as Next CEO, Jennifer Boyd to Become Beneficiary Advocate

--Foundation CEO Steps Down to Regain Full Health Following Cancer Diagnosis--

BREA, Calif.--()--Mommy & Me Cancer Foundation (MAMCF) co-founder and chief executive officer Jennifer Boyd today announced her decision to step down after receiving a diagnosis of stage one cervical cancer in May. Paul David, a member of the MAMCF advisory board since the organization’s inception in 2013, and husband to the first MAMCF beneficiary, the late Desiree David, will assume the role of CEO as Boyd remains on staff as the beneficiary advocate director. A nationally recognized charitable organization, MAMCF provides financial, emotional and educational support to mothers facing cancer while simultaneously raising minor children.

Boyd, who has served as CEO since 2013, chose elective surgery in June to have the cancer removed and today is cancer-free. During her four years as CEO, Boyd and her volunteers have executed support programs and large fundraising community events such as the popularly attended Mommy and Me Cancer Foundation 5K Run at Angel Stadium. The single working mother of two has been the longtime face of the organization and is committed to remaining involved on the patient advocacy side. Patient advocates work closely with moms in the programs, advocating for their health and resource needs.

“Despite the irony of this situation, I understand more than ever the fears and worries of moms who are battling cancer and why this organization must continue to exist,” said Boyd. “I am fortunate that my doctors caught the cancer at an early stage, thanks to a routine check-up and exam, and today I am cancer-free, just months since my official diagnosis in May. While my resignation as CEO will afford me the necessary time to focus on my health and family, I take even greater pride in this organization’s mission and will continue to help moms who are facing cancer. This has been and always will be an important journey.”

The resignation comes at a time when MAMCF is planning nationwide expansion to new cities and seeking greater funding to further its cause. Newly appointed CEO Paul David, a Southern California business executive and entrepreneur, has been involved in developing the organization’s plans to create new chapters in multiple regions across the country. David joined the MAMCF advisory board during its founding year and brings valuable knowledge and experience to the leadership role.

“Paul has worked side by side with Jennifer through the years, and we are grateful to have such outstanding leaders at the heart of this organization,” said MAMCF board member Debra Gutierrez, MD. “Our priority is giving Jennifer the flexibility and time right now to focus on her health, family and full recovery, while continuing the good work she has been instrumental in driving for our community of moms and families.”

Boyd plans to write and speak about her experiences with cancer, as well as her transition from CEO to beneficiary advocate, given her unique perspective into the critical work of the foundation.
