SUNNYVALE, Calif.--()--Intellectual property law firm Artegis Law Group is pleased to announce the addition of Sarah Mirza as partner in its Sunnyvale, CA office. Mirza, a lawyer with impeccable technical credentials, further solidifies the firm’s unique convergence of technical acumen and legal sophistication.

Mirza will focus on building valuable patent portfolios for companies in the high tech industry. Her clients range from early stage start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. Mirza’s strong technical background, stemming from her academic training at MIT and practical experience as a software engineer, combined with her extensive legal experience, uniquely position her to address client needs efficiently and effectively and to handle even the most complex technical and legal problems. Her technical specialties in areas related to computer science — including AI, VR, machine learning, complex system architectures, network and computer security, and data analytics — enable her to delve deeply into a client’s technologies and develop thoughtful and customized patent strategies accordingly.

John Carey, founding partner of Artegis Law Group, stated, “Sarah is an exceptionally skilled attorney with a deep understanding of extremely intricate technologies. I recognized Sarah’s tremendous potential when I first started working with her almost a decade ago. I am very excited about her decision to join Artegis and continuing our work in building Artegis into a top-tier brand.”

Mirza’s practice extends to assisting clients in enforcing their patent and other IP assets, and developing and executing defensive strategies with respect to third-party patent assets. To this end, she routinely performs invalidity and infringement analyses and has been involved in several post grant proceedings at the USPTO.

Mirza said, “After nine years as a patent prosecutor, I craved the challenge of building a quality-focused practice that is flexible enough to flourish in the dynamic patent prosecution landscape. At Artegis, I have the opportunity to do that with a friend and a mentor I’ve known for almost a decade. I am incredibly excited about what the future holds for us here at Artegis.”

Prior to joining Artegis, Mirza was an associate at Fenwick & West, LLP and a technical advisor at Patterson & Sheridan, LLP. She graduated at the top of her class from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2015. Also in 2015, she received the Jan Jancin award, which is awarded annually by the American Intellectual Property Law Association to the top intellectual property law student nationwide.
