PISCATAWAY, N.J.--()--IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, today announced the success of the IEEE Power & Energy (PES) Women in Power (WiP) First Annual Conference in New Delhi, India—attracting more than 100 participants, including students, educators, industry professionals and more.

The goal of the conference series is to provide women in the power industry and academia key insights into today’s energy trends. As part of the IEEE PES “More Power to the Future” initiative, IEEE PES WiP is encouraging everyone to participate in its conferences to gain an understanding of the fundamental science literature, qualitative reasoning, and the changes that are affecting the power industry today. In addition to the focus on power and technology, the event series offers attendees insights on professional and personal development.

“The conference program includes a keynote address, panel sessions, global speaker sessions and networking sessions to empower more women in leadership positions in the energy industry. The conference also fosters careers, connections and talent to harness the creativity, innovation, and diversity necessary to lead the world forward,” said Sainab Ninalowo, chair of IEEE PES WiP and Smart Grid Engineer in the Smart Grid and Technology Group at ComEd. “Our first conference took place on 11-12 March 2017 at the India Habitat Center in New Delhi, India.
