VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Navy Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in the world serving the military and their families, is No. 22 on People’s first annual “50 Companies That Care” list. In its inaugural year, People magazine’s list spotlights the top U.S. companies succeeding in business, while demonstrating respect, compassion and concern for their employees, and their communities. The magazine also named Navy Federal on the People “Companies Doing Great Things for Veterans” list.
“Appearing on this list underscores what we stand for at Navy Federal -- we genuinely care about our team members, their well-being, and fostering a strong sense of family,” said Angela Culbertson, executive vice president of human resources at Navy Federal. “Navy Federal is all about service, which means really showing up for our members, employees and the communities we serve.”
As part of Navy Federal’s recognition, People highlighted the credit union’s grant program, Dollars for Doers. The program provides monetary grants of $1,000 to the charitable organization of an employee’s choice. The employee must currently be a volunteer with the organization with tenure of at least one year. For the past 15 years, the credit union has granted over $550,000 to nonprofit organizations of all types nationwide through its employees. This year Navy Federal expanded its program both to commemorate the program’s 15-year anniversary, and to accommodate a record-breaking number of employee requests. From now on, the program will distribute 100 grants, for a grand total of $100,000 in donations yearly.
In addition to the People magazine recognition, Navy Federal also celebrated earlier this month its seventh year on the FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For® list.
