NAREE Extends Real Estate Journalism Contest Entry Deadline to March 6; Awards Presentation Slated for NAREE's Denver Conference

DENVER--()--The National Association of Real Estate Editors has extended the deadline to enter NAREE's 67th Annual Journalism Competition to Monday, March 6, 2017.

Enter on www.NAREE.org by the new, extended deadline of 11:59 pm, March 6 for work published in 2016.

Winners will be announced at NAREE's Denver journalism conference June 14-17, 2017, which will draw hundreds of journalists and real estate industry speakers.

NAREE's prestigious journalism competition is open to reporters, columnists, editors, freelancers and teams of journalists covering commercial and residential real estate and related topics.

NAREE introduced several new contest categories recently, including Best Economic Analysis, Best International Real Estate Story, Best Interior Design Story, Best Architecture Story, Best Collection of Tweets, Best Short Blog Post and Best Photo by a Real Estate Journalist.

NAREE contest categories for individual journalists include Best Column and Best Blog. Categories open to teams of journalists with multiple bylines include Best Investigative Report and Best Team Report.

NAREE’s competition is aimed at journalists covering commercial and residential real estate, mortgage finance, green building, and urban redevelopment. Submit digital and print entries published in daily newspapers, weekly business newspapers, trade magazines, commercial real estate publications, shelter magazines, wire services, websites, design publications, and stories aired on television or radio.

NAREE's Platinum Award of $1,000 will recognize the best overall individual entry. The winner of the Best Freelance Collection will receive $500. The Ruth Ryon Best Young Journalist (age 30 or under) winner and Gold winners in 32 categories spanning the broad field of real estate will receive $250 each.

The faculty of E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University will judge NAREE competition entries on clarity of writing, objectivity, originality, depth of reporting, and/or graphic design/production.

All professional journalists, both NAREE members and non-members, may enter.

Winners may receive complimentary admission to NAREE's Spring conference at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, June 14-17, 2017. NAREE's Awards Day is Friday, June 16.

The NAREE Denver conference will present panel discussions with top economists, developers, architects and realty company leaders. The conference features NAREE University, a professional development program for journalists.
