US cotton production sets to rise as planting area expands

As one of the top three cotton producing countries in the world, the US is expecting to see its cotton production increase by 7% to 4 million tons or 14.3 million bales in the fiscal year of 2017-18 and cotton planting areas in the US are expanding by 10% to 4.2 million hectares.

Texas is currently the biggest cotton producing state in the US, and its leading position is expected to continue through 2017 as over 200,000 acres of extra planting area has been planned for cotton production.

Amazon sets to become the largest clothing and apparel seller in the US

After expanding its clothing selection and introducing new brands in recent years, Amazon is expected to generate apparel sales of over USD 60 billion and hold a 16% share of the apparel market in the US over the next five years. This means that the e-commerce giant will become the largest clothing and apparel retailer in the US.

Despite the disadvantage of having no physical stores for customers, Amazon’s upwards trajectory is expected to continue as it adds more brands, expanding its clothing and apparel options, continuing to be the first-stop for online shoppers.
