NEW YORK--()--CLEAR announces a major expansion that includes New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Minneapolis-St. Paul airports – enabling travelers to move seamlessly through airport security. CLEAR lanes open today at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and debuted at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York late last month. CLEAR is expected to launch at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) later this month and will be expanding to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in the first quarter of 2017.

CLEAR technology unlocks the power of your identity in a safe and secure way enabling people who use it to transform the way the world works around them: traveling, shopping, attending events, etc. CLEAR is proud to be a leader in this exciting vision of the future.

Today, CLEAR is focused on transforming the way people travel by confirming travelers’ identities instantly. At the airport, instead of waiting for an officer to review an ID and boarding pass, CLEAR members verify their identities with a simple tap of a finger or blink of the eye and then move directly to the metal detectors and bag scanners.

With the addition of LGA, JFK, LAX, ATL and MSP CLEAR will be available in 22 airports nationwide covering the majority of flights in the U.S. A major national expansion by CLEAR in the last year has already included launches at Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

“This marks a major milestone for us and where we are as a company. It is a significant step toward fundamentally changing and improving the travel experience throughout the country,” said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman Becker. “Our members enjoy CLEAR when they travel because it provides them with predictability at the airport checkpoint. CLEAR gives them back valuable time, time they can spend with their families, use to have another meeting or just relax a little longer.”

CLEAR is certified as a “qualified anti-terrorism technology” by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Signing up is a fast and easy three-step process – CLEAR digitally authenticates your driver’s license or passport, confirms your identity, and then creates your biometric account. The process takes just 5 minutes. New members who enroll at the airport receive a one-month free trial and can use CLEAR immediately.

According to the United States Department of Transportation, there were 896 million airline passengers in the U.S. in 2015, an increase of more than 100 million since 2010. Preliminary 2016 numbers suggest that trend is continuing, with nearly 26 million additional passengers through October 2016 compared to last year. CLEAR has expanded rapidly as passengers seek out technologies to make airport travel easier and more convenient.

CLEAR technology is also available at select professional sports stadiums to help fans move seamlessly through security lines. The company is now developing new ways to expand its technology and provide businesses nationwide access to efficient and secure biometrics capabilities enabling frictionless travel, access to venues, shopping and entertainment. With rapid growth and more than 700,000 members, CLEAR is well positioned to be the leader in consumer biometrics across industries.
