PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Waste Management (NYSE:WM) will host leaders from global companies, representatives from municipalities across the country, experts, innovators and influencers, on Thursday, Feb. 2, at their seventh annual Executive Sustainability Forum at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz. The day-long event will feature renowned speakers and panel discussions on the e-commerce revolution and the conundrum of complex packaging.
In addition, just one week after the presidential inauguration, keynote speakers Dana Perino, former Republican White House Press Secretary and now co-host of The Five on Fox News Channel, and Julie Roginsky, Democratic Party strategist and regular Fox News Channel contributor, will delve into anticipated changes in U.S. environmental policies and the possible implications for businesses and local governments.
“The recycling business continues to evolve,” said Waste Management President and Chief Executive Officer, Jim Fish. “Global demand for recycled materials has leveled off and consumer behavior is changing. At our Sustainability Forum, we’ll discuss changing consumer trends, packaging changes and their impact on the recycling industry, consumers and businesses. By working together and having meaningful dialogue, we hope to find solutions to many of the complex sustainability challenges facing the world today.”
Two panel discussions will round out the morning and will be moderated by Jerry Powell, President, Resource Recycling, Inc. The first panel will discuss the e-commerce revolution and will include:
- Arnold Barlow, Senior Manager, Sustainability Solutions, UPS
- Matt Pierre, Director of E-Commerce, General Mills
- Jeff Wooster, Global Sustainability Director, Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics
The second panel will explore the challenges of managing complex packaging and will include:
- Ron Cotterman, Vice President, Sustainability, Sealed Air
- Monique Oxender, Chief Sustainability Officer, Keurig Green Mountain, Inc.
- Jacob Madsen, Director of Sustainability, SC Johnson
An afternoon workshop tackling the emerging dialogue around Sustainable Materials Management and Lifecycle Thinking will round out the day. Moderators Charlie Scott of Cascadia Consulting Group and Ruth Abbe of Abbe & Associates will facilitate a dynamic results-oriented session around changing goals to reflect broader environmental benefits.
Attendees will also have the option to participate in a Behind the Scenes tour at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in the afternoon. The tour gives participants an inside look at how Waste Management helps make the tournament the “greenest show on grass”, and features various speakers to share their insights at a few stops along the course.
