ROGERS, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Be Neighborly mobile app, in partnership with the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and the Harvest Hope Food Bank, is challenging college football fans rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Clemson Tigers to rally behind their team to tackle hunger in their respective communities.
The Sack for the Win Food Drive kicked off on December 20 and runs through the highly anticipated college football semi-final on December 31. Fighting hunger has never been easier!
Nearly 50 million people in the United States are at risk of hunger. One in six Ohioans are food insecure. Nearly 260,000 children in South Carolina face hunger. The Be Neighborly app makes it convenient and easy for Ohio State and Clemson fans to support their neighbors in need, directly from any smartphone.
While your team prepares for the big game, you can tackle hunger by donating to the food bank near your favorite team. From the free mobile app, actual sacks of groceries can be purchased and donated to one of these hunger relief organizations:
- Mid-Ohio Foodbank serving 20 counties in Ohio (rooting for Ohio State Buckeyes)
- Harvest Hope Food Bank serving 20 counties in South Carolina (cheering for the Clemson Tigers)
Those who want to participate must download the Be Neighborly app at the Google Play Store, Apple App Store or visit beneighborly.org to join The Sack for the Win Food Drive to:
- Purchase and donate a sack of groceries.
- Show your school spirit and select the hunger relief organization you want to receive the donation.
- Spread the word on social media to encourage fellow Buckeye or Tiger fans to join The Sack for the Win Food Drive and cheer for their favorite team!
Sacks of groceries, ranging in value from $14 - $49, include thoughtfully selected products from reputable brands including Tyson Foods, Procter & Gamble, General Mills and ConAgra Foods that are high value to food banks and the neighbors they serve. Be Neighborly will consolidate all orders from the competition and make one giant delivery to each food bank in January.
