Impulse Group Gives Modern Take on Classic ‘Golden Girls’ Moment

LOS ANGELES--()--Continuing its mission of exciting and engaging sexual health advocacy, Impulse Group has partnered with famed web video director Brad Hammer to promote safe sex advocacy using a familiar source to the gay community: The Golden Girls.

“The Golden Girls were and, in some ways, still are, ahead of their time,” said Impulse President and Founder Jose Ramos. “When our Impulse Program manager suggested we combine Impulse’s goals with such an iconic moment as Bea Arthur screaming ‘CONDOMS ROSE! Condoms!’ it felt like a great chance to not only remind people of the importance of condom use, but also update the scene by bringing in modern day protections such as a Truvada to show that safe sex can mean a wider range of methods.”

Using the video’s stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race favorites Alaska and Willam, West Hollywood icon Allusia Alusia, and drag legend Jackie Beat. The video garnered over 71,000 views within the first day of premiering and has continued to gain more and more views. Impulse Group hopes that people can find the humor in issues like sexual health, but more importantly the group hopes the message that “safe sex is always sexy,” reaches as many people as the original scene did.
