NIRI Announces 34 Professionals Passed the Investor Relations Charter Exam, Earning Right to Use IRC Credential

New IRC class to be honored at the 2017 NIRI Annual Conference

New testing window added immediately following the 2017 NIRI Annual Conference

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--Thirty-four investor relations (IR) professionals have earned the Investor Relations Charter™ (IRC) credential awarded by the Certification Council of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI).

Representing the second class of IRC credential holders, these IR professionals successfully completed the IRC examination offered worldwide in September. They will be honored during the 2017 NIRI Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, June 4-7. A total of 45 candidates sat for the exam, and the pass rate was 75 percent. A complete list of the September 2016 IRC class is at the end of this news release.

New in 2017, NIRI has added an additional third testing window to accommodate candidates unable to sit for the March or September exam cycles. This new third testing window will be held immediately following the 2017 NIRI Annual Conference from June 10-17, 2017.

The IRC Program defines the profession of investor relations through the IRC Competency Framework, and provides IR professionals with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, expertise, and commitment to the profession. The IRC is NIRI’s first professional credential, and the program is dedicated to advancing the practice of investor relations and the professional competency and stature of IR professionals.

“Congratulations to this outstanding group of new IRC credential holders,” said NIRI Board Chair Felise Kissell. “By sitting for and passing this challenging exam, these individuals have demonstrated that they have the necessary knowledge, skills, and commitment to ethics required for mastery of the IR profession. They set the standard of practice for the advancement of our profession.”

Kissell continued, “I also applaud all of the IR subject matter experts that have devoted so many hours of volunteer time over the past several years to creating and launching this program, either in a governance capacity, as an exam item writer, as a Body of Knowledge book chapter author, or in the job task analysis process.”

Bob Burton, NIRI’s Certification Council Chair said, “With nearly 100 global IR professionals earning the challenging IRC credential in the first year this new certification was offered, we are pleased that this program has proven meaningful to the IR community. We are happy to meet the need of prospective candidates unable to sit for the March or September exam cycles by introducing the new June testing window in 2017. It is well timed for candidates interested in brushing up on their general IR knowledge through the wealth of educational offerings available at the NIRI Annual Conference.”

Eligibility for the IRC Program includes a minimum of three years’ experience working in investor relations. To earn and maintain the IRC credential, candidates must meet educational and professional experience requirements, adhere to the IRC Code of Conduct and to NIRI’s Code of Ethics, pass the IRC exam, and participate in ongoing professional development activities.

The next IRC examination testing window will be March 18-25, 2017, and the initial application deadline is January 4, 2017. Program information and applications are available on the NIRI website: www.niri.org/certification.
