LOS ANGELES--()--SubPac, the pioneers of physical audio through wearable technology, has partnered with Korea’s leading entertainment company to integrate SubPac physical audio technology into theater seats in Seoul’s most prestigious cinema CGV.

The CGV Cinema in downtown Seoul now has two theaters in its facility fully integrated with SubPac technology, bringing physical sound to the movie viewing experience. The two theaters consist of 75 premium seats with SubPac technology directly built into the backrest, individual controls on each armrest to adjust intensity levels, and personal headphones. This technology and experiential integration between SubPac and CJ E&M marks the first-ever consumer cinema environment with a physical sound experience. As a subsidiary of CJ Group and CJ Entertainment & Media, CJ CGV is the largest multiplex cinema chain in South Korea, with theater locations in other Asia countries, as well as the United States.

It was extremely humbling to hear the CEO of Korea’s largest entertainment company tell the Asia media that SubPac is the next big thing, and that they’ll be integrating our technology into all their future initiatives,” says Todd Chernecki, CEO and co-founder of SubPac. “Over the years, we’ve taken SubPac from music to gaming to virtual reality, and most recently to the automotive world, and so it was natural for us to bring physical audio to theaters.”

SubPac will bring a new paradigm to audio based on listening,” says Ahn Suk-joon, CEO of CJ E&M Music Performance. “I expect SubPac will be utilized in various industries including music, movies, games and VR.”
