Televisa President José Bastón and Univision Anchor Teresa Rodriguez to Lead Newly Added Session at 17th NALIP Media Summit

LOS ANGELES--()--The evolution of television comes into focus with the addition of a new session featuring Grupo Televisa top executive José Bastón at the 17th annual NALIP Media Summit. Taking place on Saturday, June 25 beginning at 10:30 a.m., the one-hour session will be moderated by 13-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, George Foster Peabody Award recipient and best-selling author, Teresa Rodriguez, who is co-anchor of Univision’s primetime weekly newsmagazine program “Aquí y Ahora” (“Here and Now”).

As part of the Summit’s “Television, Streaming and Digital” track, Bastón will discuss the innovations and crossover talent/content occurring at Televisa. In light of the presence of Latinos around the globe, Bastón will present how Televisa is capitalizing on audiences’ eclectic backgrounds, the changing tastes and viewing habits of modern Latinos, and how Televisa is evolving to reach them worldwide.

José Bastón is President of Content and Television of Grupo Televisa, the largest media company of the Spanish-speaking world and a prominent force in the international entertainment industry. Today, Televisa is present in 80 countries around the world and produces content in five languages.

"Reaching out to the Latino creative community at NALIP is an amazing opportunity to connect with innovation and the heart of storytelling for our audiences on both sides of the border," says Bastón.

Earlier this year, NALIP partnered with Grupo Televisa and Univision Communications Inc. to increase opportunities for Latinos in media and technology. Univision and Grupo Televisa are collaborating with NALIP on multiple media incubation initiatives that foster, promote and advance Latino content creators behind and in front of the camera and which provide the necessary tools to strengthen the Latino community’s access and representation across the industry.

The largest annual gathering of Latinos in media nationwide, the NALIP Media Summit will take place at the Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood on June 23-26. The Summit focuses on the Latino and Latina (also known collectively as Latinx) media community and advancing the next generation of content creators. In addition to the annual Latino Media Awards, the weekend will also feature the Latino Media Market, which brings together producers with studio execs, financiers, distributors and agents to advance projects to the next level. The NALIP Media Summit is presented by HBO and hosted by the National Association of Latino Independent Producers.
