LEARN HOW TO MOUNTAIN BIKE
For those new to mountain biking, Angel Fire Bike Park is launching the brand new Ready to Ride program to help those aged 3–103 get more comfortable and confident on a mountain bike. Starting July 1, newbies can get a 2-hour introduction lesson with an instructor, a lift ticket, bike and body armor rental equipment for $49. The lessons will take place in the Southwest’s first Feature Enhanced Teaching System, located at the base of the mountain, and will offer an easy flow trail for the younger kids on a strider bike or more advanced instruction for older children and adults. Angel Fire’s Bike Park opens May 19th for the season. -
SUMMIT DISC GOLF
Angel Fire Resort is completely redesigning the popular PDGA approved Disc Golf course located at the top of Agua Fria Peak via the Chile Express chairlift. This 18-hole course is free to play and will offer a more challenging mountain adventure back 9 holes while the front 9 will be easier and more family friendly. New this season: Tour of the Enchanted Circle Finale by Elite Brothers Disc Golf tournament, which is open to the public and will be held October 15-16, 2016. -
COOL SUMMER NIGHTS CONCERT SERIES
Music can take you down a path you’ve never traveled before. The Cool Summer Nights Concert Series is new this summer season and will offer a variety of musical genres that allow guests to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and the fun of live music. Folk, Blues, Bluegrass and Rock performances will entertain the crowd Friday nights in July – August, at Frontier Plaza. Pack a picnic or enjoy food, wine and beer from the local food vendors. This is a free event and family friendly. -
FARMERS AND ART MARKET
Open from mid-summer to early fall at Frontier Plaza, this high altitude farmer’s market will offer the best in fresh, locally-grown produce and products such as honey, soaps, and baked goods. Sunday mornings will be the ideal time to sip on a hot vanilla latte and check out paintings, pottery and jewelry from local New Mexican artisans at the new art and farmers market. -
BIKING
Awarded #1 Bike Park in the Southwest by MTBParks.com for the third year in a row, Angel Fire Bike Park (www.angelfirebikepark.com) the largest Bike Park in the Rockies, opens more than 60 miles of trails on May 19 and has launched the Global Gravity Pass, for the summer 2016 season. Quickly becoming the mecca of mountain riding, Angel Fire maintains over 100 miles of downhill and cross-country green belt trails for all ability levels that also ties into the National Forest trail network including the highly praised South Boundary Trail. HOT-AIR BALLOONING
New Mexico has a reputation for some of the best weather to go hot air ballooning in. This Father’s Day Weekend, Balloons Over Angel Fire will host a 3-day weekend with over 40 hot air balloons flying over the Village of Angel Fire. THE SIP AND SWING
Situated at 8,600’ elevation, Angel Fire Resort’s high-altitude, 18-hole golf course is widely regarded as one of the most stunning in the west. The course is tucked beneath the imposing Sangre de Cristo Mountains and offers sweeping views of Wheeler Peak and plenty of wildlife. The course opens on May 18 and will offer several junior and adult clinics and tournaments this season. ZIPLINING
Opening May 28, 2016 (weather permitting) is one of the highest-altitude outdoor adventures in the state. The Resort is continuing to improve on its ever-popular Rocky Mountain Zipline Adventure Tour, which takes thrill-seekers through multiple zipline stages at the summit. The tour is the second highest elevation zipline tour in the United States and the largest in New Mexico. The six-segment tour opened in 2012 and has been so popular that additional early-morning tour times have been added to give adrenaline seekers more opportunity to fly 200’ high above the forest floor. SCENIC CHAIRLIFT RIDES
Take the state’s only high-speed quad lift to the summit where 360-degree mountain and valley views offer spectacular panorama landscapes of Wheeler Peak (New Mexico’s highest peak), Mt. Baldy, Touch Me Not and Eagle Nest Lake. Hike or mountain bike on the newly updated terrain with options for all levels. Enjoy lunch or cold drinks on the deck of the Summit Smokehouse.
