SAN FRANCISCO--()--Today Doctor On Demand, the leading video telemedicine provider, announced a first-of-a-kind partnership with health-tech company CliniCloud that enables consumers to share their vital signs remotely in real-time during video doctor visits.

Doctor On Demand offers fast, easy and cost-effective video consultations with board-certified physicians, psychiatrists, and licensed psychologists via smartphone or computer. During a Doctor On Demand video visit, the company's board-certified physicians perform a comprehensive medical exam similar to an in-person visit with a doctor, seeing and hearing patients to make a diagnosis and recommend treatment.

Now with CliniCloud's stethoscope and non-contact thermometer, doctors can use even more physical examination findings to inform their decision making. Patients can record and then forward to their doctors their temperature and heart and lung sounds, allowing doctors to listen for lung findings associated with pneumonia and asthma, as well as heart sounds like murmurs and irregular rhythms. The physicians can combine that information with the CliniCloud temperature recording to better identify sicker patients more likely to have serious conditions.

“Our partnership with CliniCloud enables patients – no matter where they are – to see a doctor and transmit accurate health data,” said Doctor On Demand Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ian Tong. “Having that ability means fewer trips to the emergency room or urgent care center to diagnose minor health care issues. We can treat a broader set of medical conditions as we enter this next generation of telemedicine.”

Doctor On Demand is available to tens of millions of Americans through their employer or health plan at no cost or a subsidized fee. The service is also available for anyone to use via their smartphone, laptop, or tablet for a flat $40 fee per physician visit. Customers who purchase a CliniCloud device will receive their first visit free with Doctor On Demand. The CliniCloud kit can be purchased at BestBuy.com.

“CliniCloud is thrilled to be partnering with Doctor On Demand. The opportunities for smart technology to change how Americans access quality healthcare and improve the way we live are endless, and Doctor On Demand is at the forefront of innovation in this space,” said co-founder and CEO of CliniCloud Andrew Lin. “Together we’re enabling people to get a more comprehensive medical examination from the comfort of home.”

About CliniCloud

CliniCloud’s first product, a connected home medical kit consisting of a digital stethoscope, non-contact thermometer and smartphone app, is designed for easy at-home use. The app guides users through either a quick or full check-up, with intuitive prompts for exactly where to place the stethoscope and thermometer, so anyone can use the CliniCloud kit without medical training. Profiles can be created for each family member so a history of health and corresponding notes can be viewed over time. The app is available from today on iOS, following a successful trial of Doctor on Demand’s user base. The CliniCloud kit can be purchased at www.clinicloud.com and is priced at US$149.
