SAN FRANCISCO--()--Doctor On Demand, the next-generation telemedicine provider, announced today that beginning May 11, Hill Ferguson will serve as the company’s CEO. Hill is a former PayPal senior executive who has experience leading companies at every stage of growth, from founding a company to serving as senior executive in a high-growth public company. His hiring signals the next phase of Doctor On Demand’s growth and comes on the heels of the company signing its 400th major corporate customer earlier this year.

“I’m honored to join Doctor On Demand. What this team has built in a relatively short amount of time is tremendous. I am also impressed by the dedication of this team to the vision of expanding access to high-quality health care,” said Ferguson. “Doctor On Demand has the potential not just to be the next generation of telemedicine, but the next generation of medicine.”

“There are few people more qualified to take Doctor On Demand into its next phase of growth than Hill Ferguson,” said Doctor On Demand’s current CEO Adam Jackson. “We’re committed to providing the best quality telemedicine experience for our customers, and Hill’s outstanding track record of building companies with a customer focus is a perfect match for our team. I leave knowing that the company is in very able hands.”

Ferguson replaces Jackson, who has been with the company since its founding. Earlier this year, Jackson and the Company’s Board decided that the company needed a leader with a different set of skills to execute an increasingly dual-pronged strategy of nurturing its direct-to-consumer business while rapidly expanding its number of enterprise customers.

“Over the last three and a half years, Doctor On Demand has benefited dramatically from Adam’s extraordinary product development skills, consumer marketing insights, and ability to build a great team,” said Jay McGraw, Co-Founder and Chairman of the company’s Board. “The product is engaging and effective, and the disruptive no PEPM model and high clinical quality has led to enormous uptake among enterprises.”

Doctor On Demand is now available to tens of millions of Americans through their employers or health plans. Its enterprise customers include four of the Fortune 10 and many industry-leading companies, such as Comcast, who see telemedicine as a key component of their efforts to deliver high-quality care to their employees and their dependents while bringing down overall health care costs. Powering this growth in Doctor On Demand’s enterprise business are its industry leading clinical standards and patient experience that is second-to-none. Moreover, employers can integrate the telemedicine service with any health plan they currently use, and there are no up-front costs, PEPM fees, or subscription fees, maximizing the cost-savings.

With more Americans embracing services like Doctor On Demand, the telemedicine market in the U.S. is growing rapidly and is expected to swell to $4.5 billion by 2018. Employers are taking notice. While 22 percent of employers provide a telemedicine option today, 71 percent plan to add coverage in the next three years according to Towers Watson.

Doctor On Demand has the potential to not just be the next generation of telemedicine, but next generation medicine. More and more people are discovering that we no longer need to go to an office and sit in a waiting room in order to find out what’s bothering them – and what to do next. The company is committed to the goal of bringing top quality health care to those who cannot access it now and making health care more efficient and cost-effective for individuals and businesses.
