Executives from Wanda Films and Legendary Pictures to take Keynote Stage at CES Asia 2016

Disruptive technologies take the content and entertainment industry by storm

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM today announced that Dr. Jack Q. Gao, Vice President of Wanda Cultural Industry Group and Intl. Investments & Business Operations and Peter Loehr, CEO of Legendary East, will deliver a keynote address at the upcoming CES Asia™ 2016. Gao and Loehr’s keynote will be moderated by Clifford Coonan, China correspondent for The Irish Times, and will take place on May 11 at the Kerry Hotel, Shanghai Ballroom 1. The group will discuss the current and future state of the filmmaking business in China, including partnerships around tentpole productions including “The Great Wall” and “Pacific Rim 2.”

Dr. Jack Q. Gao, Vice President of Wanda Cultural Industry Group and Intl. Investments & Business Operations, joined Wanda Group in June 1, 2015. Today, Dr. Gao is on the Boards of AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc., Infront Sports & Media AG, World Triathlon Corporation, Beijing Vantone Industrial Co. Ltd. and AGTech Holding Ltd. Dr. Gao graduated from the Harbin Institute of Technology and the University of California, Los Angeles with B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. Degrees in Engineering.

Peter Loehr is the CEO of Legendary East - Legendary Pictures’ China joint venture. He is one of the producers of THE GREAT WALL - the largest ever US-China co-production directed by Zhang Yimou, starring Matt Damon and Andy Lau. Before joining Legendary, Loehr was the Managing Director of the Creative Artists Agency in China for seven years, during which the agency was involved with four of the largest co-productions in Asia - THE BATTLE OF RED CLIFF, FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3, THE KARATE KID. Prior to joining CAA, Loehr produced nine feature films, including SPICY LOVE SOUP, SHOWER and SUNFLOWER.

Clifford Coonan is a Beijing-based writer focusing on Asia, and he has been a correspondent for the past 13 years in China, enjoying a front-row seat on the world's biggest story of change. Dublin born and reared, Coonan is a Beijing correspondent for The Irish Times, and was previously Asia Editor for The Hollywood Reporter and before that, Variety, as well as The Independent and the Times of London. He recently curated the Film Ireland festival in Hong Kong and retains a role as consultant on the film and media industry in the region.

CES Asia 2016 will feature a robust conference program showcasing more than 50 conference sessions and more than 100 speakers. The previously announced Intel keynote will now be occupied by Josh Walden, senior vice president and general manager of the New Technology Group at Intel Corporation. Walden who oversees Intel’s global research efforts in computing and communications, will take the keynote stage at 4 PM on Wednesday, May 11 at the Kerry Hotel, Shanghai Ballrooms 2-3.
