MINNEAPOLIS & ST. PAUL, Minn.--()--Meridian Behavioral Health has announced its investment in the former Guest House property in Rochester, Minnesota. The facility will be developed as a mental health and chemical dependency treatment center for adult men.

This new facility allows Meridian to extend its innovative model of addiction treatment care to serve an unmet need for health and chemical dependency in southern Minnesota. Drug and alcohol addiction impacts 1 in 3 families, with 90 percent of those effected receiving inadequate treatment or no treatment at all.

“Addiction is a hugely prevalent and horribly undertreated disease,” said Fran Sauvageau, President and CEO of Meridian. “We look forward to expanding service offerings in southern Minnesota to help those in need find a path to recovery.”

Meridian is a leading behavioral healthcare company in Minnesota, and the chosen care provider for nearly 8,000 clients annually. It offers a range of substance abuse and addiction treatment services, including medication-assisted treatment. At a time when the region suffers from a shortage of behavioral health services, Meridian continues to invest in new facilities and programs. Most recently, Meridian opened Beauterre Recovery Institute, an innovative 60-bed residential addiction facility for adults and licensed professionals in Owatonna, Minnesota.

The new Rochester treatment center, to be named Oakridge Treatment Center, is planned to offer a 70-bed men’s residential program. Modeled after Meridian’s other programs, Oakridge will provide a holistic, individualized approach to care. It is expected to open in late 2016. The center is located about five miles from downtown Rochester on an expansive wooded lot and will provide care to both privately and publically funded clients.

“When it comes to addiction treatment and recovery, every person has different needs,” said Dr. Bud Lile, Chief Medical Officer of Meridian. “Like our other programs, Oakridge will tailor treatment plans based on the needs of the individual, specifically addressing the co-occurring mental health issues often intertwined with chemical dependency. The serene, rustic location makes it an ideal therapeutic setting.”
