SPOKANE, Wash.--()--Ecova, a leading global energy and sustainability management company, today announced that in partnership with its utility clients it has delivered 129 terawatt hours (TWh) of energy savings over the last twelve years, the lifetime of its programs―including 21 TWh of savings in 2015 alone.

This lifetime savings of 129 TWh is equivalent to displacing the production from 51 power plants for one year, averting the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from 207 million barrels of oil consumed, or preventing 89 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) from entering the atmosphere.

“Utilities are facing a level of disruptive change they’ve never seen,” said Jana Schmidt, president and chief executive officer for Ecova. “Analytics, customer engagement and a sophisticated understanding of how to influence purchasing decisions are essential elements to reaching desired savings goals. The 129 TWh of energy saved is a testament to our work to make a difference and drive verifiable savings.”

Since 2004, Ecova’s utility program solutions group has been helping utilities meet savings goals and reduce utility customers’ energy costs. Ecova helps utilities navigate the current disruption and create a new energy future by using data, insight and action. Through award-winning program delivery services and software analytics solutions, Ecova works with utilities to solve their biggest energy savings and customer engagement challenges while providing a foundation upon which to grow future services.

In 2014, Ecova engaged an independent analyst firm focused on energy and sustainability to assess and validate Ecova’s approach to measuring these energy savings. This same methodology was used in 2015 and again in 2016 to validate savings detailed above.
