Behan Communications Promotes Senior Staff, Adds Veteran Business Journalist

ALBANY, N.Y.--()--Behan Communications today announced the following appointments:

  • Senior Project Manager Bill Richmond has been promoted to vice president;
  • Former Albany Business Review weekly edition editor Philip Schwartz has been hired as a project manager.

Richmond has counseled clients at the firm for 17 years and leads the firm’s Strategic Business Research practice. Schwartz was the weekly edition editor of the Albany Business Review and will assist clients with the development and execution of strategy on a wide range of projects.

Behan Communications is the largest public relations firm in New York’s Capital Region. With offices in Albany and Glens Falls, the firm specializes in strategic public affairs, corporate communications and crisis communications, and serves clients across New York and the Northeast. The firm has major practices in the environmental, energy, manufacturing, financial services, innovation, health care and non-profit sectors.

Richmond joined the firm in 1998, and has worked on projects for large and small companies, non-profit organizations and associations. As Director of Research, Richmond provides in-depth analysis of data and trends, as well as regulatory, legal and competitive market research for clients. A 1992 graduate of SUNY New Paltz, he lives in Kingsbury on a 40-acre homestead with his wife and two children.

Schwartz was an editor for nearly eight years at the Albany Business Review and played a leading role in the transition to a digital-first newsroom, an effort that included a reimagining of the print edition. That redesign won three international awards from the Society for News Design in 2014. Between 2002 and 2008, he was a music critic and business reporter at The Daily Gazette in Schenectady.

Born and raised in Peekskill, NY, Schwartz graduated with honors from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a degree in English. He lives in Burnt Hills with his wife and two sons.
