Russell, PhD will assume the newly created post of Executive VP for Digital Transformation and Emerging Markets. In his new position, Dr. Russell will assist in driving iTalent’s digital transformation practice and strategy. He will also become a senior executive liaison with industry groups, associations, and strategic partners as iTalent continues to grow in geographic and vertical markets.
Russell has more than 20 years of experience developing and implementing comprehensive programs and innovation initiatives. A technology pioneer, he developed early Intranet systems for large banks which led to his participation in developing one of the first successful Internet-based training platforms.
He continues to be a leader in innovation, serving as founder and President Emeritus of the Wichita Chapter for the Society for Information Management (SIM). This past year, he developed and launched the Applied Technology Acceleration Institute at Wichita State University. Prior to that he was a Director and Strategist at Cisco, where he led the Intellectual Capital Transformation group. He served as CIO for the David H. Murdock Research Institute (DHMRI) and spent several years in the Office of the CIO with Duke Energy. He was also SVP and head of Enterprise Architecture for Bank of America. Additionally, Dr. Russell is a founder and past President of the Charlotte chapter of SIM.
At DHMRI in North Carolina, he provided executive leadership to drive delivery and execution of the technology requirements for developing and implementing a green-field life sciences research facility. In addition to his experiences at Duke Energy and Bank of America, Dr. Russell has led successful technology and strategy engagements with Fortune 500 organizations (including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail), academic institutions, non-profits, and innovative startup companies.
His new role with iTalent will not only help accelerate digital innovation for iTalent’s customers, it reunites Dr. Russell with co-authors Renee La Londe, iTalent’s CEO and Founder, and Fred Walters, iTalent’s EVP of Business Development. Together, the trio wrote Social Knowledge: Organizational Currencies in the New Knowledge Economy, an industry-defining guide to Social Knowledge Management.
