OVERLAND PARK, Kan.--()--John Stevens has been named Sprint (NYSE: S) president of the Central Texas Region. Based in Dallas, he will be responsible for sales strategy, network oversight, customer service, marketing communications and general operations supporting the full portfolio of Sprint products and services from enterprise to consumer in Central Texas. Stevens will report to Jaime Jones, area president of the South. Stevens will remain in his current position as vice president for the Central Region until the new regional structure is completely rolled out next year.

Stevens’ appointment follows Sprint’s announcement that it will restructure the company into four geographic areas – West, Central, Northeast and South – with targeted resources devoted to 19 top markets, including Dallas. Under Stevens’ leadership the company will develop market-specific offerings serving the unique local needs of consumer and business customers in the South.

“Our new regional structure will help us compete more effectively in Dallas and markets all across the South by better connecting with our customers where they live and work. John is an extremely experienced and talented leader, and he knows exactly what it takes to help us win locally.”

The South geographic area covers Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Central Texas. It encompasses more than 1,311 company-owned or Sprint-branded retail stores.

“Central Texas is one of the fastest-growing technology hubs in the nation. I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity to bring a more localized approach to customers and grow our business throughout these markets.”
