SEATTLE--()--The Center for Infectious Disease Research and AEG Live recently announced the two organizations have extended their multi-year partnership to help raise awareness for global health and infectious disease research throughout the greater Seattle community.

Through this collaboration the Center will be the official nonprofit partner of the 2016 Bumbershoot festival – a celebration of music, art and creativity – held each Labor Day weekend at Seattle Center. AEG Live will donate a portion of each ticket sold to the Center for Infectious Disease Research and encourage ticket buyers to support the organization through an additional donation at the point of sale.

Five additional benefit concerts will be held at the Showbox properties throughout 2016 to continue to raise awareness and funds for infectious disease research. Specific benefit concerts will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited to extend our partnership with AEG Live,” said Edward Jenkins, vice president of institutional advancement and chief public affairs officer at the Center for Infectious Disease Research. “Through this partnership we’re able to raise additional awareness and support for our mission of developing lifesaving treatments for the 14 million people who die each year from infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.”

“AEG Live is pleased to have extended our partnership with the Center for Infectious Disease Research,” said Rob Thomas, vice president of AEG Live Pacific Northwest. “The first year of our partnership was successful and we’re looking forward to continuing to help raise community awareness for the great work being conducted by nonprofit organizations in the regions where we operate, such as the Center for Infectious Disease Research.”

2015 was the first year that Bumbershoot partnered with a nonprofit and as a result, AEG Live donated $72,000 to the Center. To support the cause, please visit www.CIDResearch.org or purchase tickets for Bumbershoot at www.bumbershoot.com.
