Texas-Based Startup Take Command Health Offers First-of-Its-Kind Solution to Help Small Businesses Save on Health Insurance

Website helps employees optimize health insurance coverage, generating savings for businesses ahead of 2016 open enrollment

DALLAS--()--Take Command Health, a Texas-based startup dedicated to helping individuals choose and save on their health insurance, announces a partnership with Zane Benefits, the leader in defined contribution health plans. The partnership allows Take Command Health to provide Texas businesses with a first-of-its-kind health benefits solution that could help businesses with fewer than 50 employees save 20 to 50 percent over traditional small group health plans.

"Texas small businesses are looking for something new that’s affordable. Currently, they are forced to choose an expensive, one-size-fits-all group plan that's not efficient,” says Jack Hooper, CEO of Take Command Health. “You end up paying a lot for a plan that doesn't really work well for anyone."

Now, instead of paying a percentage of each employee's premiums on a group plan (a "defined benefit"), employers can use Zane's compliance software to reimburse their employees a tax-free amount each month (a “defined contribution”). Employees then use Take Command Health's online guide to quickly compare plans from Healthcare.gov side-by-side with private plans from Aetna, Blue Cross, United, Humana, and Cigna. Take Command helps employees automatically apply for federal tax credits and enroll in a plan that includes their doctors and is optimized for their individual needs.

The partnership equips small businesses with compliance and plan optimization software that they may not have had the resources to do themselves in the past. "Zane Benefits has helped thousands of small businesses reinvent their employee health benefit programs," stated Zane’s CEO and President, Rick Lindquist. "Our clients love our simple solution because it saves them time and money, while also helping employees afford health insurance."

Last year in a small pilot, companies were surprised how much they could save. “They didn’t believe us when we’d offer a solution 20 to 50 percent cheaper than quotes from their broker," says Hooper. "We’re excited to formally offer this new solution to small businesses in Texas this year.”

The 2016 Open Enrollment season starts November 1, 2015. For more information, visit www.TakeCommandHealth.com.
