WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--“Making Change at Walmart (MCAW),” the national campaign to change Walmart into a more responsible employer, issued the following statement in response to a Bloomberg article about Walmart cutting some workers’ hours.
“We now have further evidence that Walmart’s so-called 'wage increase' was nothing more than a cruel PR stunt,” said Jess Levin, communications director for Making Change at Walmart. “Hard-working Walmart workers – many of whom did not even see a raise in pay – are having their hours cut all so Walmart can pad its bottom line. This is a disgusting statement on Walmart’s values and how little it values its workers. It’s what we’ve come to expect from Walmart, and it must change, and we are determined to help Walmart workers make that change.”
