NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Rosen Law Firm, P.A. announced today that it has initiated a class action lawsuit investigation regarding a potential debit and credit card breach at the website Ashley Madison, owned and operated by Avid Dating Life, Inc., a subsidiary of Avid Life Media, Inc. (collectively, the “Company”). The Rosen Law Firm, P.A. is also investigating consumer fraud claims against the Company in connection with its “Full Delete” service which purported to eliminate user profiles and traces on its website and database in exchange for a fee.
According media reports, Ashley Madison servers were breached by a third party which obtained, and subsequently released to the public, customer profiles which included personal information about the customer, matching credit card transactions, real names and addresses. Given the sensitive nature of Ashley Madison, the Company lured users, in part, by highlighting publicly its purportedly heightened data security. The Company further attracted users by advertising and marketing a “Full Delete” service which promised to completely eliminate user profiles and all associated data for a fee. It has been reported in the media that the Full Delete service did not eliminate all traces of the user, and in fact, the third party hacker was able to obtain personal information about users who had purchased the Full Delete service.
