CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In Illinois, nearly 4,000 construction projects with contract values over $6 billion were actively bidding in the second quarter of 2015.
According to the BidClerk Construction Index (BCI), a quarterly report from BidClerk, a leading provider of construction project data, more than 400 private and 3,300 public projects were released for bid in the second quarter of 2015. Areas in the report included Chicago, Champaign-Urbana, Peoria, Rockford, Springfield, Moline, and Rock Island, Ill., and St. Louis, Mo.
Illinois high profile projects out for bid in the second quarter were:
Northeastern Illinois University student housing complex
- A $45 million six-story, 440-bed campus student housing complex.
- Weis Builders, general contractor, and Solomon Cordwell Buenz, architect
- A $25 million, addition to the family entertainment center and water park
- Weis Builders, general contractor, and Gillespie Design Group, architect
Nationally, BidClerk reported on more than 75,000 new projects valued at over $188 billion in the second quarter of 2015. According to BCI data from the second quarter of 2014, there were nearly 60,000 projects with an estimated value of $148 billion.
