MARKHAM, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Combined June sales of 16,539 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented a 2% increase over last year’s sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported June sales of 14,679 units, virtually unchanged versus last year. The Acura Division reported June sales of 1,860 units, up 28% over last year.
“Reflecting the industry trend towards light trucks, Honda sales were led by HR-V, CR-V and Pilot. The much-anticipated HR-V arrived at dealerships in June and with only two official sales days, over seven hundred units were delivered to awaiting customers,” said Dave Gardner, senior vice president of operations, Honda Canada Inc.
“The story continues for Acura in that strong June sales are attributable to the TLX luxury sports sedan and RDX luxury SUV, which set a second consecutive monthly sales record with a year-over-year increase of almost seventy percent,” said Gardner.
June Highlights:
- Canadian-built Honda CR-V June sales up 24% over last year, setting an all-time June record (3,645 units sold versus 3,483 in 2012)
- Honda Pilot sales rose 6% in June with 580 units sold, breaking a June sales record (versus 578 in 2013)
- Acura sales growth was led by the success of TLX, with a year-over-year increase of 169% (352 units versus 131 in 2014)
- Acura RDX surpassed expectations and set a new June sales record with 880 units sold (versus 554 units sold in 2012)
