“With the current drought conditions, we’re encouraging customers to choose their home landscape wisely so that it will help conserve more water in the long run,” said Vice President of Operations, Rich Svindland. “These revised rebates will not only offer greater incentives for reducing outdoor water use, but also expand the criteria of who can be eligible for these rebates.”

Only applications submitted after June 1 will be eligible for the new rebates. In order to be eligible, it is required that the lawn/landscape:

  • The rebated landscape area must replace a currently irrigated lawn with drought tolerant landscaping or synthetic turf. California American Water may inspect the premises “before” and “after” the retrofit.
  • Synthetic Turf be installed by a certified contractor and has a minimum 10 year warranty or lifespan.
  • The retrofitted landscape must be permeable to air and water to avoid run-off onto the sidewalk or driveway.

California American Water customers are also encouraged to utilize the company’s conservation services to cut down water usage. Additional water saving services available to customers includes rebates on water saving devices, free conservation tools and our free water wise house calls.
