BetterCloud Extends Cloud Office Enterprise
Security and Management to Microsoft Office 365

Robust Alerting and Monitoring Solution Provides Critical Insights into User Activities, Security Risks and Domain Health; Former Dell Executive Joins as Chief Strategy Officer

NEW YORK--()--BetterCloud, the leading provider of critical insights, automated management, and intelligent data security for cloud office platforms to more than 50,000 organizations representing 32 million users worldwide, today announced the release of its new toolset for Microsoft Office 365. Now available in private beta (request access here), the release marks the company’s expansion into one of the fastest-growing platforms in the cloud office market. The company also announced the hiring of Michael Tweddle as chief strategy officer. Tweddle joins BetterCloud from Dell Software, where he was executive director of product management for the Windows Management business.

As more companies move their email and collaboration systems to the cloud, IT departments require new toolsets built for these cloud office environments. BetterCloud’s software brings critical insights, automated management, and data security to cloud platforms, making IT teams’ jobs easier.

“As the leading insights, management and security tool for cloud office, we have a unique understanding of the challenges these platforms pose for large enterprises,” said BetterCloud CEO David Politis. “In order for these organizations to adopt cloud office platforms, the additional functionality and controls provided by BetterCloud are critical. IT departments that have historically used Microsoft products are accustomed to a high level of sophistication within their security and management toolset. Now, with BetterCloud for Office 365, they can leverage similarly advanced functionality built for the Office 365 environment.”

BetterCloud for Office 365 gives IT teams a 360-degree view of their organizations’ domains, makes it possible to audit activities across key areas, and surfaces security risks, performance optimizations, and best practices – all from a comprehensive dashboard. The product’s Domain Health and Insight Center helps IT administrators gain critical insights about user activity across their domain, and customizable alerts tell them when they need to take action. Then BetterCloud gives them the tools to automate those tasks.

“The adoption of cloud office platforms has been important for the productivity of our employees, but as an IT organization, we want to be able to control what is going on in our domain,” said Rob Buurman, system administrator at Asics. “BetterCloud gives us a clear view of this activity and continuously provides suggestions about how to make it more secure. The company does an excellent job engaging us in the community and taking action on the product feedback we provide, and we’re confident this will continue with BetterCloud for Office 365.”

BetterCloud has seen tremendous growth in its customer base, revenue, and headcount since its founding in 2011. With more than 50,000 organizations using its products, representing 32 million end users, BetterCloud actively manages more than 33 billion pieces of data across its customer base. The company’s revenue grew 500 percent from 2013–2014, while its employee base increased from 35 to 90 during the same timeframe.

BetterCloud’s expansion into the Microsoft market will fuel its next stage of growth, and its appointment of Michael Tweddle as chief strategy officer is key, as he brings a track record of exceptional success in this market. Prior to joining BetterCloud, Tweddle led product direction, strategy, and go-to-market activities for Dell Software’s Windows Management business. During this time, Tweddle led a 30-person team in the creation of tools for Active Directory, Exchange, Lync, SharePoint, Office 365, and more.

“For more than a year, I’ve been keeping a close eye on what BetterCloud has been up to and getting to know the leadership team,” said Tweddle. “Companies are migrating to cloud office in record numbers, and there’s a huge opportunity to provide the security and management toolset that IT teams require. This is a perfect time to join BetterCloud.”

“BetterCloud is a great example of how the Microsoft Partner Network benefits our customers,” said Jenni Flinders, VP of the U.S. Partner Group at Microsoft. “By innovating with the Office 365 platform, they’re delivering a powerful solution focused on helping IT administrators be more productive.”
