WASHINGTON--()--Norton Rose Fulbright today announced that Ananda Radhakrishnan has joined its Washington, DC office as a partner. A prominent government lawyer, Radhakrishnan strengthens Norton Rose Fulbright’s regulatory, derivatives and commodities practice.

Radhakrishnan joins Norton Rose Fulbright from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), where he most recently served as the Director of the Division of Clearing & Risk. In this leadership position, he oversaw derivatives clearing organizations and other market participants in the clearing process including futures commission merchants and swap dealers. Radhakrishnan served over 12 years in several senior positions at the CFTC.

Radhakrishnan’s extensive knowledge of the industry and in-depth understanding of the Commodity Exchange and Dodd-Frank Acts and CFTC regulations allow him to analyze commodities and derivatives issues as they pertain to regulatory, compliance, and risk management matters facing clients.

Linda Addison, US Managing Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright, said:

“Ananda will enhance our US and global financial services regulatory and commodities practices with his exchange and brokerage industry experience. He will be a tremendous part of the team as new derivatives laws and regulations are passed and implemented.”

Radhakrishnan, who served at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. for seven years prior to joining the CFTC, said:

“I look forward to working with such a respected global group of financial services lawyers, some of whom are former CFTC colleagues of mine. My experience with the industry and at the CFTC will contribute to our commodities and derivatives practice and provide valuable insights as we advise our clients and help them navigate the changing global regulatory landscape.”

Daryl Lansdale, US Head of Business Law, Norton Rose Fulbright, commented:

“Ananda’s deep familiarity with regulatory law will benefit our clients, particularly those in the financial and energy sectors. He has a vast knowledge of clearing and exchange regulations which is vital in our current business climate.”

Radhakrishnan received his LLB, with honors, from the National University of Singapore Law School and his MBA in finance and marketing from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He is admitted to practice in New York and before the Supreme Court of the United States and the Supreme Court of Singapore. His admission to practice in the District of Columbia is pending.
