Last year’s 30-day Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign saw Clipless raise more than $20,000 over the funding goal thanks to nearly 1,500 backers and being featured in many online tech publications such as Gizmag, Mashable, and Trend Hunter to name a few. They Innovate Inc. (founded by Danilo Malanczyj and Jeffrey McLarty, Engineers from the University of Waterloo) also benefited from financing and strategy services from Northumberland CFDC, a business development corporation headquartered in Cobourg, Ontario and engaged in accelerating early-stage startups in Eastern Ontario. “It has been an amazing journey from concept to commercialization for They Innovate,” said Executive Director Wendy Curtis. “We were pleased to be there from the beginning to support these incredible young entrepreneurs."
Clipless was created and patented as an easy solution to the daily challenges faced by people who need to stay engaged with their devices while navigating an on-the-go lifestyle.
“I was always asked to carry my girlfriend’s cell phone because she didn’t have any pockets,” explains CEO and Co-Founder Danilo Malanczyj. “After talking to family and friends, I quickly realized the potential for a multi-use product that could solve the no pocket problem for women, and now with oversized phones, everyone needs a way to keep their phone secure without pockets.”
With two packages available – The Clothing Package and Surface Package – Clipless allows you to have your phone with you at all times, whether you are around your house, at the office or in the gym. The Clothing Package allows you to secure your phone to your clothing, inside your purse or even a jogger stroller. The Surface Package lets you mount your phone or tablet to walls, mirrors or car dashboards.
For tech-savvy users, the connectors are NFC enabled, allowing you to launch specific applications or functions when your phone is mounted such as launching a bedside alarm clock, a recipe app in the kitchen or a GPS in the car.
