PITTSBURGH--()--It’s official! Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for largest pierogi. The 123-pound dumpling was prepared and cooked by Rivers’ Executive Chef Richard Marmion and Assistant Executive Chef Adam Tharpe.

This record had never before been attempted, so the pierogi had to weigh more than 110 pounds, 3 ounces to qualify. An adjudicator from Guinness World Records was on-site to verify the weight and officially deliver the good news.

“As a Pittsburgh native, I appreciate our city’s passion for pierogies, which you can see on the menus in the restaurants throughout the casino,” said Richard Marmion, executive chef of Rivers Casino. “Our team had a great time preparing for this challenge, and we’re very excited to celebrate National Pierogi Day with a big win—literally.”

Following the official judging, guests were treated to samples of the record-setting treat. On hand to help deliver the samples, and good news, were the Pittsburgh Pirates Pierogies: Sauerkraut Saul, Cheese Chester, Jalapeno Hannah and Oliver Onion.

But the party doesn’t stop there. In celebration of the new record and National Pierogi Day, players will be treated to a free tasting of world-famous Mrs. T’s® pierogies from noon to 1 p.m. in Levels Lounge. Rivers Casino Rush Rewards members have the chance to win Free Slot Play, prizes or a year’s supply of Mrs. T’s® pierogies, with “hot seat” drawings from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
