Collaboration and Convergence: Netsmart Client Conference Focuses on Changing Health Care Delivery and HIT Environments

1,000+ attendees at largest Health and Human Services IT-Focused Event

ANAHEIM, Calif.--()--Improving lives…reducing costs…endless possibilities is the theme for CONNECTIONS2014, Netsmart’s annual client conference opening today and continuing through Oct. 9 at the Hilton Anaheim.

More than 1,000 health and human services professionals from across the country are attending this year’s conference for four days of learning and collaboration to help them provide effective, life-changing services to more than 25 million people nationwide.

Netsmart clients include public and private sector mental health and addiction services organizations, social services and child and family health agencies, managed care organizations and local health departments. CONNECTIONS2014 is the single largest educational event targeted specifically for these areas of healthcare, with Netsmart clients presenting more than half the sessions.

"The journey for each of our clients and their organizations is ever-changing,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “As their knowledge and technology partner, our role is to help them be successful in providing services that improve the lives of millions every day.”

This year’s CONNECTIONS conference features two keynotes and 12 General Conference tracks with 140 sessions on a wide range of clinical and business topics, including the integration of behavioral health and acute care, clinical informatics, ICD-10 conversion, revenue cycle management, medication management, and challenges in Asperger’s and autism assessment and treatment.

The CONNECTIONS Executive Symposium, a “conference within a conference” for CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, chief medical officers and others with management responsibilities for their organizations, includes sessions such as integrating with hospitals for coordinated care, harnessing and using big data, legislative and public policy issues and how disruptive innovation is transforming healthcare.

The large Solutionarium and Innovations area of the conference features real-life provider workflow scenarios including front desk, outpatient, inpatient settings, as well as hands-on demonstrations of a variety of Netsmart solutions for coordinated care and mobile apps for use by clinicians and case workers in the field.

Other special aspects of this year’s conference include a Clinical Roundtable for clinicians attending CONNECTIONS led by Ian Chuang, M.D., Netsmart senior vice president, health informatics and chief medical officer, and Dennis Morrison, Ph.D., Netsmart chief clinical officer; and pre-conference training sessions on billing, clinical and technical topics.

“Our clients are focused, heads-down and dedicated to providing outstanding programs and services in their communities,” said Valentine. “Our CONNECTIONS conference is an opportunity for them to learn, share ideas and take home practical knowledge they can put to work right away.”
