SEATTLE--()--Theo Chocolate, an award-winning bean-to-bar chocolate maker, today announced the national launch of its newest creation, Theo Peanut Butter Cups, the first fair trade certified product of its kind in North America. Available in both dark and milk chocolate options, the cups have a distinctive heart shape inspired by the care put into each product and the joy each bite will bring. Every package includes two peanut butter cups, perfect for sharing.

The product is made with 100 percent organic and IMO Fair for Life certified Congolese cocoa, and special dark roast peanut butter made with domestically sourced organic peanuts from small batch roaster CB’s Nuts.

“Creating a Fair Trade certified peanut butter cup with no soy and no palm oil has been a longtime passion for Theo, and those designations are essential to the overall quality and integrity of the product,” said Joe Whinney, Theo founder and CEO. “We decided to use a heart shape as a representation of the human connection between the farmers who cultivate high-quality ingredients and our customers who get to enjoy the finished product.”

As the first bean-to-bar maker of Organic, Fair Trade, Fair for Life, and Non-GMO certified chocolate in North America, Theo upholds high standards for both its sourcing and manufacturing practices. From farm to factory, Theo oversees the entire chocolate production process and provides cocoa farmers with the technical and educational resources they need.

“CB’s and Theo see eye-to-eye on the importance of creating organic products that taste delicious,” said Tami Bowen, president and co-owner of CB’s Nuts. “When the Theo team approached us about partnering on a peanut butter cup, it was an easy decision to collaborate on this exciting new take on a classic favorite.”

Theo Peanut Butter Cups, MSRP: $2.39 per package, are available for purchase nationwide at Whole Foods and Earthfare stores, as well as Theo’s Seattle factory store and web shop. The cups will be available at Stop & Shop, Giant and Hannaford stores starting in November.
