DTCC/SWIFT Ranks First in TABB Group’s New Comprehensive Global Quarterly Ranking of LEI Infrastructures

Exclusive Legal Entity Identifier Ranking Measures 14 Providers on Data Validity Aggregated by P-LEI.org; WM Datenservice, London Stock Exchange, Dutch Chamber of Commerce and Takasbank Also Recognized

NEW YORK & LONDON--()--TABB Group announced today that it has initiated an exclusive comprehensiveness global quarterly ranking of the 14 legal entity identifier (LEI) providers across the world’s financial centers based on data validity and size. For the second quarter of 2014, DTCC/SWIFT ranks first in the inaugural TABB Group ranking with a total comprehensiveness score of 97%.

LEIs are legal entity identifiers required by global financial regulators to better identify firms and counterparties engaged in financial transactions. TABB Group’s LEI Comprehensiveness Ranking measures LEI providers on the validity and comprehensiveness of their LEI data as aggregated by P-LEI.org, analyzing LEI quality against four scales: number of entries; validity of regional information; and the completeness of essential LEI field-level information.

“We want to publicly congratulate the DTCC/SWIFT LEI facility for being the highest ranked LEI provider for the second quarter of 2014,” says TABB Group founder and CEO Larry Tabb. “Highlighting the comprehensiveness of the LEI providers’ data submissions, the DTCC/SWIFT was followed by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce and Takasbank, the Turkish LEI provider. We also want to publicly recognize WM Datenservice and the London Stock Exchange, which round out the top three providers based upon the quantity of entries and their comprehensiveness percentage.”

TABB bases its LEI Comprehensiveness on five metrics: validity points (number of entries x total comprehensiveness); total comprehensiveness; regional comprehensiveness; field record completeness; and US record validity.

According to Tabb, “we analyze the P-LEI’s aggregated LEI database, testing the validity of regional information against standard country and region codes to determine the percentage of accurate records.” LEI entries are then analyzed to determine the percentage of field-level data entered for information including Legal Address, Registered City, Entity Status Code, Entity Legal Form, LEI Status Code, LEI Assignment Date, LEI Certification Status, LEI Record Last Update Date, and LOU Mapping Profile. “The higher the percentage, the more populated fields each LEI record contains,” says Tabb.
