NEW YORK--()--Glide (www.glide.me), the pioneer in video texting, today released Glide 2.0 for iPhone, the most significant update of the instant video messaging app since it debuted on iPhone in April 2013.

Glide is the world’s first and only instant video messenger. The company’s proprietary, patent-pending streaming video technology lets users send and receive video messages instantaneously. The moment a user taps record, the video message is simultaneously broadcast live to recipients and stored to the cloud for on-demand viewing at any time. This approach makes communication much faster and simpler than sending a video message as an attachment, and more convenient than video calling. As a result, chats no longer need to be scheduled in advance and users don’t have to wait until their friends are available to start a conversation.

“When we debuted Glide last year, our goal was to make messaging more convenient and expressive than ever before,” said Adam Korbl, Chief Product & Marketing Officer of Glide. “Our users rapidly adopted this new behavior, which they refer to as ‘video texting'. Already, the average daily message sender on Glide records over 10 video messages per day.”

The most noticeable improvements in Glide 2.0 for iPhone are the new simplified and sleek user interface, and these highly demanded features:

  • Tabbed navigation – Users will find three simple-to-navigate tabs: Friends, Chats, and More.
  • Last Active – In the Friends tab, users can see when their friends were last active.
  • Group naming – Users can add distinct names to personalize and better identify group chats.
  • Video message sharing – Users can easily forward messages to other chats or share beyond Glide via email/SMS or social networks.
  • User profiles – Users can create personal profile pages where others can add them as Friends or engage directly in 1-to-1 conversations.

“85% of the millions of Glide messages sent each day are videos and our engagement and retention metrics have more than doubled since launch,” added Korbl. “We see continued growth as we further refine the product based on user feedback. Glide 2.0's stunning new design and host of fresh features will make the app even more delightful to use. We can't wait to see how our users react to this major update!"
